Pews & Perches

Our talented new intern Ed has recently won a prestigious RIBA competition to design a bench to be sited at the exciting new London Pleasure Gardens in the Albert Dock.

http://www.londonpleasuregardens.com/

Due to open on the 30th June the Pleasure Gardens will host everything from world-class music artists and DJs to circus and promenade performances, film screenings, live art, community engagement projects and family activities. The design concept shatters the traditional bench design with its multi directional use and accessibility for all with the inclusion of a wheelchair table. The main body of the bench has been constructed from salvaged timber pallets, each one lovingly sanded (front and back) oiled and drilled by Ed’s fair hands. The main galvanised steel box section frame was generously donated by Shelter Store (www.shelterstore.co.uk) with Structural design by Nigel Cole Associates 01621778111, thanks for all your help with the project.
