Private house - Upminster, Essex
Extensions & Alterations for owner occupier client
project value £80k
The project involved the refurbishment of an existing Victorian end of terrace house, the client wanted to gain more space while enhancing the property with a series of contemporary additions. The rear of the house overlooks farmland and the client wanted to enjoy these views, the roof addition incorporated full length glass doors that open fully with a glass balustrade to un-obstruct views. The client also wanted to experiment with different materials to achieve a sharp and contemporary style, we achieved this by using lead, western red cedar cladding, coloured glass panels. The ground floor addition was to create a modern open plan living, dining and kitchen area with a separate utility, a complex steel frame was used to support the inverted roof and 6m plus folding doors. The inverted roof was vaulted to provide extra light gained by the inclusion of roof lights.
