The site, which originally housed a single dwelling, was left vacant and therefore the opportunity arose to redevelop this prominent corner site close to Walthamstow center. The brief was to create a residential development sympathetic to the historic surroundings, but with a modern concept.

We proposed 12 flats comprising 1& 2 bedroom units in response to Walthamstow’s need for higher density housing. The scale of the development aims to respond directly to the Victorian properties nearby, and uses facing brickwork to relate to these, however the introduction of timber cladding and a zinc roof show the intentions of the building to respond to sustainable issues that are relevant in today’s methods of construction. The use of renewable energies within this development also reflects the Clients wishes to create a building that respond to current environmental issues.
