On behalf of the Adamsgate Action Group we were commissioned to produce a vision for the current landfill site which is located to the south of the existing historic Rainham village. This master plan has been used in discussions with the Local Authority Regeneration Team and shows how the current derelict site can be used for leisure, commerce and residential development acting as a catalyst for regeneration of Rainham as a whole.
The brief, which was compiled by consulting the local residents in Rainham, lead to the vision where a marina can act as a main point of activity as well as incorporating a necessary tidal protection from flooding risk posed by the River Thames in this location.
The proposed pedestrian routes through the new development seek to link the old village to the new areas with commercial and leisure facilities, leading to an area adjacent to the A13 which would incorporate an area of special interest which could reflect the nature of the Eden development found in Cornwall. The green areas designate a proposed landscaped walk, which runs from the old village and links into the existing RSBP nature reserve to the east via a green bridge.
